Run July Run

I enrolled to a fitness club last week and today I decided to go for a quick workout during my lunch break. Usually I skip the treadmill, I get easily tired and after running I cannot lift weights anymore. Today I went for a quick run for a change. My standard five minutes is already a history. I don’t know why but only now I have noticed the monitor in front of the machine where you can see your progress. How much calories already burn, time and distance you already pull off. More often than not 3 minutes I will press the emergency stop or just walk for another minute. Then that’s it!

But not today; I noticed on my 5 minutes of struggle that I already accomplished 40% of the set program. Should I continue or just press the emergency stop again and simply walk away from the treadmill? I didn’t push the red button instead I continue running for another 10 minutes. It was a hard challenge and so much discomfort but I was able to pull it off. I was glad I carry on. It maybe a small thing but quite a big realization to me, that everything I do I have to set a goal to achieve and finish it. Do not just run in all directions except towards the goal.

I still managed to lift weights for the next few minutes then head back to the office with a more positive perspective.

“The tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach.”
